What is End of Cycle?
This is a big-picture newsletter. As its title suggests, it works on the premise that we have entered a global end of cycle, a time of chaos, derangement and dissolution out of which a new earth can come into being.
The dying phase of a civilisation is always full of terrors and grotesqueries. But if we can disengage from it inwardly then it loses its hold over us, and we can cast a cool and encompassing gaze over its lurid spectacle.
This newsletter aims at doing just that. It provides a detached vision on a large scale of the past and likely future, while being very much alive to present trends, which encapsulate in their own way the cycle as a whole.
Louis Ryan
I was born and grew up in Ireland, then lived in Paris and London before settling in Mallorca, Spain. I have worked as a teacher, journalist and translator.
The outlook informing End of Cycle has taken a long time to knit together. I feel that now is the time to start sharing it with others.
Why Subscribe?
Subscribers to End of Cycle will receive a free post directly to their inbox at regular intervals, currently about once a fortnight.
Each post from this newsletter is like a tessera, one of those small tiles that go to make up a mosaic. That means that the big picture informing End of Cycle may become apparent to the reader only gradually.
At the same time each post will be as self-sufficient as possible, providing rewards in its own terms, while inviting subscribers to see how a broader vision takes shape from one post to the next.
Getting Involved
Comments from readers are highly valued, and will be acknowledged and responded to. I also hope to start doing podcasts soon, so that the ideas being developed on End of Cycle can be explored live.
